A latin adventus<\/em> = „eljövetel” szóból – A keresztény egyházak naptári évében a karácsony előtti többhetes – régebben böjtös – időszak neve. Jelentősége a messiásvárás évszázadainak szimbolikus újraélése, lelki előkészület az inkarnáció ünneplésére (ti. hogy Isten emberré lett a Messiásban). A kifejezés utalhat Krisztus második eljövetelére, azaz második adventjére is.<\/p>\n
